Finance Director

Our retained client is a simply extraordinary business - perhaps the most remarkable business MDM Resourcing have worked with. Privately owned and growing at c30% per annum, this ambitious, award winning business designs and manufactures the highest quality products for mega-yachts and homes owned by the world's billionaires as well as many A-list film and rock stars. The business takes great pride in delivering luxury and perfection to its clients.

Established more than 30 years ago the business is highly profitable. With more demand for its products than its current location and staff numbers can deliver the business is now aiming to double in size over the next 3 to 4 years. Heavyweight experienced Non-Executive Directors (ex-Bentley Motors) have joined the Board to assist with guiding its expansion.

Critical to the business's operations are excellent planning and a fine eye for detail and it is these qualities that are now sought in the business's appointment of its first Finance & IT Director.

The Role

To date the business has had only a very basic finance function; the quality of financial insight has lagged behind the overall development of the business. Working closely with the Founder and the Chairman, the role is very hands on and broad and will play a pivotal role in driving the controlled, measured expansion of the business.

Early priorities include developing

• (from the ground up) a robust control, management information and project costing regime enabling detailed and accurate data capture and insight into product profitability, and
• an IT strategy and business systems to support the business as it upscales.

The Candidate

• A hands on commercially astute qualified accountant possibly looking for a first Finance Director role;
• Experience in the financial management of a small to medium sized business - preferably an entrepreneurially run, privately owned business;
• Experience of specification and implementation of an IT (ideally ERP) system
• Experience in a “product” business (not necessarily manufacturing) trading in multiple currencies;
• A person who enjoys taking ownership and works to high personal standards of care.
