The Accounting Control team is responsible for:

Ensuring accuracy of the General Ledger compared with upstream systems and processes - this includes all accounts and balances within the ledger and involves understanding and reconciling data from Product Control reported revenues, Accounts Payable accruals and prepayments, payroll database, and project accounting
Preparation and control of P&L and balance sheet data to ensure that data in the ledger is appropriate for Financial Reporting - this includes reclassifications, netting, consolidation review of SPV, performing hedge accounting effectiveness testing and journals, processing of FX management for expense ledgers, sell down of year end P&L to retained earnings.
Co-ordination of the balance sheet substantiation process - the team is responsible for the substantiation of certain accounts, and co-ordinates with other functions to ensure that the remainder of the balance sheet is understood and supported effectively
Liaison with Front Office and all trade support teams, specifically product control, operations, technology, legal and risk

The Financial Reporting team is responsible for:

Preparation of detailed quarterly Head Office reporting packages which are submitted to Tokyo for Group consolidated reporting under JGAAP and USGAAP.
Production of Financial Statement under IFRS, including all notes and disclosures
Engage with external auditors to support the year-end process.
Extensive communication across the firm involving direct interaction with the trading desks, risk teams, product control and other teams within Finance and regular communication with colleagues in Tokyo.
Delivery of ad-hoc analysis to understand and articulate business performance for internal stakeholders and management reporting.

Main purpose of the role:

Support the accounting control and financial reporting teams, taking on responsibility for specific reconciliations, reporting templates and ad hoc work as required whilst we undertake our year end and a number of projects requiring significant financial analysis.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to a VP as part of a finance team of 22 staff
Involvement in the month end processes, reconciling revenues between reported MI and GL
Involvement in the production of expense data
Reconciliation of cash balances between the firm's primary systems - from Operations controlled systems to the General Ledger (Oracle)
Production of Head Office reporting packages
Involvement in the production of the year end Financial statements
Support for the team on other adhoc activities

Skills and experience:

Be a qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant
Relevant experience in either Financial reporting or control
Strong balance sheet control/reporting experience
Have strong documentation and reporting skills
Strong MS Excel and Oracle projects and fixed assets modules skills preferred
Understanding of banking products and their accounting treatment
Knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP
