Our client is an established and successful business services organisation headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role of Finance Director is a board level appointment which will both report into and support the CEO in the commercial strategy and decision making process to drive growth and profitability. The Finance Director will also control the finance and operations functions leading teams in accounting, IT and quality

The Finance Director will support and drive commercial and financial related business outcomes, you will be relied upon to provide high value commercial insights and advice as well as protect and grow the core value of the business through maintaining and continually improving financial controls, systems and processes.

A qualified accountant, ACA/ACCA/CIMA with a broad range of experience including prior relevant leadership experience, ideally advising at board level working with complex businesses as well as exposure to new business lines and offerings will stand out. Key responsibilities

  • Support the long-term strategic direction for the company. In close partnership and alignment with the CEO, the Finance Director  will be responsible for  driving the preparation of medium term and long term business plans based on growth objectives and strategic plans
  • Drive holistic business objectives to ensure maximum profitability without compromising on core value propositions to customers; provide analytical frameworks, scenarios and options in terms of “what if” scenarios and alternative models.
  • Provide effective financial management of the business. Manage entire responsibility for Accounting, planning, budgeting and financial reporting policies, procedures and systems
  • Ensure that the company complies with the legal legislation including regulatory norms. Drive compliance with the highest standards of financial propriety and discipline at all times and be responsible for producing accurate and legally complaint financial statements on time.
  • Work closely with the board and the senior leadership  team on various strategic and corporate areas
  • Provide financial leadership and ensure control and responsibility for leading the finance function  with key accountabilities including the monthly close process, project controlling, FP&A, business analysis, and the management and implementation of accounting policies.
  • Ensure that adequate systems of internal control and suitable monitoring procedures are in place to underpin the integrity of the financials, ensuring that all business risks are being properly identified, addressed and reported to mitigate those risks.
  • Applying sound commercial judgement the Finance Director will need to apply his/her commercial and financial acumen to maintain profitability and healthy cash flow to ensure that the correct controls and processes are in place.
  • A ‘hands on' role and ensuring strong collaboration the Finance Director will be expected to lead from the front and be sufficiently agile to operate as an organisation leader while also getting involved in the details of the work. He/she will be expected to take a proactive approach in helping the business to solve problems.
