Financial Controller

Our client is looking for an experienced interim Finance Director/Financial Controller on a 12 month contract based in Newcastle. This is a senior level appointment that will oversee a number of critical projects and their associated company accountants.

Immediate start. c.GBP400 per day for 12 months.

Ideal candidate:

- Has experience of PFI/PPP accounting - however this is not expected as is such a specific area

- Is qualified, preferably ACA

- Has strong academic background and proven track record in business

- Has strong Excel skills

- Would ideally have a Big 4 (or other large accounting firm) background

- Is a self starter and able to manage a varied workload

- Must be credible to the Board, funders, client and other key stakeholders

Experience is often not the differentiator here (unless they have PFI experience). So we often look for better signals of ability (ie upward progression/academics). A great profile is an auditor/ex-auditor with 2-3 years post qualified experience (in or out of practice) looking to increase their experience looking towards FC/FD type roles in the future.

The role:

- Effectively act as a mini-Finance Director (with support from me and technical specialists) on a series of PFI projects, ultimately responsible for the delivery of financial services to these companies

- Will manage the delivery provided by the Company Accountants (that principally do the doing)

- Effectively manage stakeholders (providing assurance, responding to queries, proactively managing situations)

- Delivery of the semi-annual operating model (an Excel based, complicated model which allows cash distributions to shareholders)

- Fit in to a team of 5 Finance Managers, who work together to support each other and their portfolios as required
