Robert Half Finance and Accounting are looking for an experienced Financial Controller for a commercial and ambitious transport provider based in London.

Our client is one of UK's largest transport businesses and is part of a successful global listed group.

They have over 5000 employees, being very proud of their achievements and intend to be the best provider in their field!

Following a period of change they are now looking for a Financial Controller to join, manage and develop an existing team. You will be an expert in your field with a strong accounting, controls, systems and treasury experience.

Key Duties include:

  • Management of a sizeable Finance Department
  • Ensuring the period end accounts are produced accurately and to deadlines
  • Ensuring the integrity of the financial results and compliance with International Accounting Standards (IFRS).
  • Manage the integrity and accuracy of all Financial Systems, proposing changes and developments to improve efficiency and performance
  • Management and Development of the Treasury Function ensuring maintenance of Cash Flow Forecasts and visibility of future working capital requirements.
  • Management & Control of all Ledgers including Revenue Recognition, Billing, VAT, Fuel Accounting and Reporting, Insurance Provisioning, Fixed Assets and Purchase Ledger
  • Corporate Governance and Cost Control
  • Building and Maintenance of a Database of recurring contractual income and payments
  • Control of the Balance Sheet ensuring reconciliations are kept up to date
  • Main point of contact for Statutory, Interim and Internal Audits.
  • Support the Executive Committee, colleagues and peers in providing financial information and understanding of results and variances.
  • Support to Business Development opportunities that may include implementing additional support structures to Business Units.

Essential requirements:

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA (chartered accountant)
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a managerial position
  • Commercial / operational experience
  • Problem solver and strong financial systems experience
  • Strong team management, team player and engaging
  • Strong time keeping / deadline skills
