A leading Cloud Technology business requires an experienced lawyer with international trade experience to advise the business on a broad range of import and export regulatory and commercial matters, including on emerging and cutting edge areas of international trade law. You will be responsible for advising on commercial matters to provide strategic input on import/export compliance and transportation and supply chain commercial transactions and initiatives. You will collaborate with legal teams in the US and EMEA to develop innovative international trade, transportation and supply chain solutions. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years (with at least two years practice gained from a leading law firm) in import/export regulatory matters, preferably with some portion of that experience in commercial transactions or technology. Candidates having some exposure to sanctions would be advantageous but not essential as export law is most priority for this role.

The Role
You will provide day-to-day guidance on import/export regulations, and advise on upcoming regulatory changes and enforcement trends. In addition to drafting and negotiating commercial transactions with customs brokers, suppliers and logistics companies, you will employ creative approaches to resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, including pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. You will develop and improve import/export policies and procedures, including working cross-functionally with technology teams to implement automated solutions. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.

The Candidate
Must have gained thorough legal experience of trade law from a leading International law firm which has a reputation for advising multinationals on import and export regulatory and commercial matters. You will have 4-6 years PQE (with at least two years gained from a leading law firm) in import/export regulatory matters, preferably with some portion of that experience in commercial transactions or technology. Candidates with a mix of corporate law firm and in-house experience is a plus as the legal team operate on the premise of being business lawyers with a pragmatic approach when offering legal solutions. To be considered as a cultural fit candidates will need to show the natural ability of using common sense with great judgement and a good sense of humour.
