The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a SQL Database Administrator/Developer to come on board and be the sole DBA, taking ownership over the SQL environment, a lead role on projects, and providing development solutions. This is a very interesting, varied role where the individual will have the opportunity to be very project focused and get involved in a lot of different areas. Not only will this be a highly technical role providing administration and development of the databases, but it will also be client facing and this person will be liaising with various teams and members of the business, analysing requirements and developing new reporting and data management solutions.
The DBA role provides database and server management for all of the firm's SQL Servers globally. In addition the DBA acts as a data analyst responsible for the movement and provision of data across the firm's systems and delivery to users. This role will work within the development team and provide database design and query optimisation expertise to developers, and provide technical guidance on the specification and configuration of the server infrastructure for SQL Server to the Systems Infrastructure team.
Key tasks include:
Provide database design leadership during the design, development and implementation phases.
On-going assessment of the database performance and identification of problem areas
Proactive monitoring to ensure availability, troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL development
Database design and implementation
Transform data, cleaning, data repair, matching and de-duping
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly data maintenance tasks and checks
Provide reporting capabilities and manage internal reporting (SSRS) system
