WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Shortlisted candidates should be a <£UK qualified lawyer and have:

• A minimum of 3- years experience in one or more of these areas.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating framework and services agreements.
• Some knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts preferably.
• An understanding of or interest in Energy Projects.
• A strong academic record.
• In-house experience.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate a number of key competencies including leadership and communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, intellectual curiosity and a practical, commercial approach to problem solving. Candidates should expect to work very autonomously and as such will be self starters with the confidence to use their initiative and be proactive.

The Role:

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance (Operational Business Support) you will:

• Manage and provide leadership to the relevant financial management team
• Responsible for analysing, investigating and reporting the Divisions’ financial position incorporating activity performance and other information as necessary to support the story
• Responsible for the maintenance and development of the Divisional reporting framework.
• Provide strategic financial and business planning advice, information and expertise to the managers within the supported areas to ensure financial sustainability.
• Ensure that the Divisions’ financial records represent a true and fair view and meet financial timescales and requirements of the Trust’s corporate reporting system, external statutory returns and accounts, accounting policies and legislation.
• The post will provide the Divisional link across the Finance and Information departments ensuring that all elements of these departments are represented in the Division.
• Support the development of robust savings / efficiency improvement schemes including taking the lead for the Division on benchmarking and value for money audits to ensure best practice and optimal utilisation of resources.
• Provide expert advice to the contracts team to support negotiation of contracts with commissioners and where Divisional input is required on a specific area of the contract.
• Support the maximisation of income ensuring the Trust gets paid appropriately for all services provided.
• Ensures that all budget holders receive sufficient training to enable them to exercise their duties in accordance with the Trust’s financial policies including Standing Financial Instructions, Standing Orders and Scheme of Delegation. Where breaches are discovered, ensure appropriate action is taken, in compliance with Trust policies.
• Deputises for the Assistant Director of Finance (Operational Business Support) as required.

The Person:

• A qualified accountant with a proven track record of utilising their financial expertise while working collaboratively with senior operational and clinical colleagues

• A commercial thinker with strong influencing skills experienced in effective business planning and the preparation and support of business cases

• Proven leadership skills, working with a range of stakeholders in a change orientated environment.
