My client are seeking a Data Analyst (Research Support) to support market data, trading model testing and production related requests from within the company. This is a technical supporting role. The perspective candidate will spend about 70% of time addressing the requests, and work with developers to enhance the related processes, while devote about 30% of time doing development (see details below).


Key Job Responsibilities
- Work with portfolio managers and researchers as 1st level support to address their questions regarding data sets, model testing and production processes
- Monitor various trading model testing processes, perform troubleshooting and apply fixes or escalate to 2nd level support
- Regular maintenance on trading models, such as updating configuration parameters, upgrading and applying user requested modifications
- Administrate user access to market data, tracking the usage and produce reports
- Design/implement/enhance monitoring applications and tools to help investigate relevant problems
- Compile and analyze data set and trading model statistics and coordinate with other internal departments to produce specialized reports
- Maintain internal web pages that interface with Trading and Research departments on data usage and model testing


Job Requirements
- Interest in applying technology to real world situation, comfortable working in fast-paced working environment, detail oriented and capable performing task under time pressure
- Possess effective problem solving both independently or as member of a team
- Have good communication skills: must be fluent in English, spoken and written
- Possess an education background in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, with minimum Masters Degree. Proof of good academic record (i.e. GPA/other relevant test scores)
- Have experience working under Linux environment. Proficient with common utilities such as find/grep/awk/sed/ls/cut/cp/tar/ps/ssh etc. Familiar with Vi or Emacs for editing files
- Have experienced with scripting language, Perl and shell scripting are required, knowing Python is a plus. This requirement can be dropped/loosen only if candidate shows strong ability in other required skills, and successfully demonstrate he/she can pick up the skill in reasonable timeframe
- Possess knowledge of C/C++, common algorithms and data structures (binary tree, sorting, etc) and Object Oriented design. Be familiar with compilers, debuggers under Linux (gcc, g++, gdb)
- Have knowledge of basic statistics/probability, familiar with concepts such as correlation, standard deviation and how to calculate
- Be familiar with database operations (with MySQL), including schema building, query, data loading, backup, restore
- Be familiar with web site maintenance, web server configuration, CGI (Apache, CSS, HTML, ModPerl/Mason)

SENIOR FINANCIAL & COMMERCIAL ANALYST

Only those with Marketing Communications Agency experience will be considered for this post.

The Financial Analyst will need to work closely with the division’s CFO and CEO, together with the senior team within the division and the Group CFO. The Financial Analyst will also need to work directly with the Group Chairman on all pricing issues and will be responsible for maintaining and developing the pricing tool to his direct instructions.
The person will be an essential part in supporting the professionalising of the finance function within the division’s domain to go from a level of adequate performance to one where it provides a competitive advantage.
The position will work with the Group Finance department who are responsible for the accounting and compliance work across all of the Group businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Price tool. Work with Group Chairman in maintaining the division’s pricing tools as instructed and ensuring other access and administrative tasks are carried out strictly to instructions.
2. Sales reporting. Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of sales by business, client, type of business for all senior leaders.
3. Project profitability. Review and correct the project ledger information produced by the Group finance department for low margin projects or streams of business.
4. Incentives reporting. Reporting around total payments to respondents and suppliers.
5. Monitoring other external cost of sales and making recommendations on improvements.
6. Monitoring staff head count and staff/employee cost to ensure they are under control and not increasing significantly.
7. P&L analysis with detailed variance analysis for monitoring cost both direct and indirect and performance versus prior period and budget.
8. Budgeting. Production of annual (or rolling) budgets for each business unit.
9. Forecasting. Building rolling estimates of the run rate of each business.
10. Contractual negotiations and legal support. Support negotiations with procurement departments and review of legal agreements.
11. Investment analysis. Financial projections for potential new initiatives and monitoring/evaluation on current investments.
12. Cost reduction exercises. Continual review of expenses to ensure efficient use of business funds.
13. Ad hoc reporting. Including operational reports.
14. Weekly Cash flow forecast for the next 6 months (first 3 months weekly and then monthly) – when appropriate.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
1. Excellent excel and project management skills.
2. Methodical approach to analysing data, with an emphasis on being thorough
3. Ability to thoroughly pull together information and present it in a format(s) that is easily understandable by the relevant reader
4. Strong communication, listening and influencing skills.

Experience:
