Our client is a leading full service law firm with presence in several jurisdictions across the globe.
A need for a Business Development director for the London office has arisen.
The role will encompass the following:
- enhancing client relations (by way of client satisfaction surveys, coaching partners, introducing robust processes and client care programmes firmwide);
- boosting media coverage and raising positions in legal guides in London;
organising “road shows” to generate referrals, networking and arranging good marketing activities in the UK (event speaking, own / joint events with other law firms)
- increase workflow from other Western jurisdictions/referrals from in-house lawyers
The ideal candidate will be expected to:
- help build the firm’s image in the market by participating in the cross-office marketing committee, introducing and implementing advanced policies and procedures, coaching partners in the areas of business development and media relations, assessing the quality of communications
- bring fresh ideas and innovation to the firm
- conduct deal / relationship reviews
- identify new business/client opportunities
- secure long-term profitable relationships with existing clients
- plan and execute business development strategy from the point of view of the client’s international capacity
- maintain a constant watch over market developments and trends
- support the legal directory submission process from London (face to face meetings, personal communications with editors and analysts, proactive interaction between the firm and legal guides)
- monitor market activities to ensure partners’ involvement in the most effective/exclusive/interesting of them
Skills Required:
- Educated to degree level, a marketing or further business qualification an advantage
- Experienced in BD role in a law firm, performing at a senior level and routinely in a client-active, revenue winning role
- Strong persuasion and influencing skills with the ability to command attention and influence business professionals
- Excellent organisational skills, able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Good knowledge of targeting initiatives for both individual partners and teams
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Demonstrated capability to train, lead and motivate a BD and marketing team, so must have highly developed people management skills, and ability to work well in interdepartmental teams and provide fresh and creative ideas
- Exposure to working with emerging markets (Russia and the CIS) would be a great advantage
