Recruiter
Network Rail
Salary
From £61,000 to £78,000 per year
Location
Glasgow, York
Job term
Permanent
Job hours
Full time

Right at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railway, Network Rail is involved in some of the most diverse, ambitious railway engineering projects ever seen. Our Finance function plays its part by establishing our cash requirements through the planning stage, securing income through the regulatory process and funding our borrowing through the financial markets. It also ensures value for money from suppliers and mitigates our exposure to financial risk. In addition, it upholds sound financial control and regulation to meet the external statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirements expected of a major listed UK company.

A brand new role that’s been created as the result of a recent restructure, you’ll be instrumental in helping the Finance team achieve its objectives and financial targets. Day-to-day, you’ll manage the provision of comprehensive and quality financial support with respect to project accounting, management reporting, internal control, financial accounting and business planning. We’ll also rely on you to identify any resourcing requirements and recruit staff as required. In addition, you’ll be encouraged to independently appraise and challenge proposed business decisions when you feel it’s necessary. In short, you’ll be a key member of a senior management team that together are focused on achieving Network Rail’s financial goals.

As well as full membership of a relevant professional body, we’ll be looking for impressive post qualification experience. This should have been gained within at least two different finance disciplines within Network Rail and/or a similarly complex business environment. Ideally used to working in a matrix management organisation, a track record in project accounting would be useful. So too would evidence of commercial responsibility for major projects and/or contracts, with any other relevant professional or academic qualifications a plus, but not essential.
