As the largest of the funding divisions, Science Funding focuses on five science-oriented challenge areas. With approximately £600 million invested annually, the division supports crucial research across various facets of biomedical science.
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of charitable grants expenditure, budgets, and cashflow forecasts and provides vital financial insight into the grant portfolio.
Key Duties:
• Preparation and analysis of commitment and cashflow charitable activity budgets of £500-600 million per year.
• Business planning and forecasting across a range of short, medium and long term grant funded projects.
• Key finance person working in partnership with the Trust’s largest funding division (Science Funding) for grant budget management.
• Timetabling and preparation of the quarterly and ad hoc reporting of grant related financial information to the Executive Board, Strategy committee and Science Funding Management Team.
• Responsible for the statutory and management accounting of grant activities.
You will need to have a track record in a similar role. You will be CCAB qualified from a top four practice (or equivalent), with 3+ years post qualification experience including experience in scientific research funding. You will be required to work and communicate effectively with senior management from a variety of back grounds including scientific and financial. Strong technical and commercial accounting skills combined with an analytical mind and eye for detail and at a strategic level are also essential to the role. The ability to manage very short deadlines and fluctuating workload is essential.
