A leading independent technology business are looking for a General Counsel to join lead the in-house legal team based in Central Newcastle. This full-time, permanent General Counsel / Head of Legal role will see you join a growing and profitable business with strong cultural values.
Responsibilities of your new role
As GC you will lead a small team and have full responsibility for all legal and contractual matters in the business. Your core duties as General Counsel will include:
- Assisting and supporting the Board in all legal and contractual matters, including the implementation of technical programmes that support the business.
- Assisting and supporting the Board in the ongoing protection of intellectual property.
- Drafting and negotiating of the full range of contracts for software development and licensing, SaaS, PaaS, hosting, consultancy and service level agreements.
- Supporting due diligence projects and providing commercial analysis for any partnership arrangements and/ or acquisitions.
- Ensuring the team establish and maintain a contracts register.
- Providing company secretarial support as required.
- Assisting with understanding and complying with contracts.
- Maintaining an up to date knowledge of relevant developments in contractual law.
- Ensuring the Group complies with data protection legislation.
Candidate requirements
The business seeks a General Counsel or Head of Legal who demonstrates:
- Strong technical legal skills
- 7 years of PQE
- Bags of energy and commercial nous
- Proven leadership skills and experience
