Job Description:

The Global Marketing Director, Oncology -- Business Development is a key role in the Oncology Therapeutic Area within Global Marketing (GM). The Director is responsible for assessing the commercial value of licensing and business development opportunities, working with the Global Marketing TA Head, Oncology Franchise Strategy Committee, Product Teams, Business Units, and Corporate Strategy & Business Development. He/She will develop high quality proposals and commercial assessments of licensing candidates and companies; identify and advocate for commercial business opportunities; provide key insights to facilitate outreach decisions through market research, opinion leader interviews, and desk research; build alignment and 'one commercial voice' in support of licensing & outreach opportunities; and participate on select deal teams, as appropriate. Key responsibilities include: Lead and manage the development and execution of commercial assessments, including regional forecasts where appropriate Partner closely with appropriate functions to provide understanding of disease area, unmet need, market situation analyses, and competitive assessments Collaborate with Business Analysis and Insights, Global Value & Access, Global Regulatory Affairs & Safety, Finance and other functions to develop key insights and facilitate decision making Be a 'focal point' for commercial licensing opportunities within the Oncology Therapeutic Area Partner with the Oncology Franchise Strategy Committee, Business Units & Regions, Corporate Strategy & Business Development, as appropriate, in the identification and evaluation of business development opportunities Collaborate in the development of proposals, business cases, contracts, and financial analyses associated with licensing projects Present and advocate for business opportunities within Global Marketing and others as directed by the Global TA Head/General Manager Escalate key issues to the Global TA Head as appropriate Manage business development budget as directed by the Global TA Head Work with regions to develop integrated, global assessment of business development opportunities Ensure agreement on regional forecasts and planning assumptions Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing experience or marketing and business development and/or licensing experience. OR Master's degree and 7 years of marketing experience or marketing and business development and/or licensing experience OR Bachelor's degree and 9 years of marketing experience or marketing and business development and/or licensing experience Preferred Qualifications Experience: 8+ years of industry experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or other Healthcare related field 5+ years of experience in Marketing roles Business Development and Licensing experience Oncology TA experience Background in life sciences Experience in leading cross-functional teams Knowledge: Business Development, Licensing and or Marketing/Science background Oncology therapeutic area knowledge Understanding of other functions relevant to the position including: Commercialization, Research & Development, Corporate Strategy & Business Development, Finance, Legal and Intellectual Property Competencies: Strong advocacy and communication skills Strategic thinking, analytical and project management skills Goal oriented and results driven Ability to lead and manage projects from concept to completion Quick learner, proactive, takes initiative Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, active listening, and relationship management skills Interface effectively with all levels, including senior management Ability to understand, plan, and navigate in a matrix and, at times, ambiguous environment Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly and effectively present information Demonstrates creativity and foresight in anticipating and solving complex project issues Awareness and ability to navigate and conform to Commercialization and Corporate Governance processes Amgen is committed to unlocking the potential for patients suffering from serious illnesses by discovering, developing, manufacturing and delivering innovative human therapeutics.
