The Organisation:

Hays are proud to be working with CIRIA, the Construction Industry Research and Information Association. They are a neutral, independent and not-for-profit body that link organisations with common interests and facilitate a range of collaborative activities improving performance in construction and built environment in the UK and Ireland. CIRIA's members represent all stakeholder groups including clients, contractors, consulting companies, suppliers, public sector bodies, regulators and academia. The organisation publishes good practice guidance and shares knowledge across a range of industry sectors including infrastructure civil engineering, asset management, environment and sustainable water management as well as process and technology.

The Role:

Reporting into the Chief Executive and managing one accounts officer, the Head of Finance is a critical member of the Management Team responsible for managing all finance and accounting operations and IT. You will manage budgeting and forecasting for the organisation, monthly management reporting, annual financial reports and liaise with auditors. CIRIA generates a significant percentage of its income from research projects and third party contracts and the Head of Finance plays a central role in advising on project budgets, tenders and contracts. You will present regularly to the Executive Board and the Management Team providing meaningful financial information and insights on business performance and make recommendations to support decision-making. You will also have oversight of CIRIA's pension arrangements and commitments, advising on the management of the legacy scheme and control the costs of that scheme.

Your Profile:

The ideal candidate for this role will be a fully qualified accountant with experience of managing all aspects of finance and reporting at board level. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in the membership/not for profit sector. You will be commercially focussed and have ideally had some experience of influencing the strategic plan for an organisation as well as purely managing financial processes. You will have strong IT skills, including excel. Experience of working in an environment which is project based would be a distinct advantage. You will be driven and enjoy facing fresh challenges. This is an opportunity to work with a small organisation and have a big impact on their future direction.
