DESCRIPTION:

* Responsible for achieving assigned operating earnings and revenue objectives for all assigned managed care accounts.
* Manages staff and provides direction to ensure proper prioritization of time, account-level and book-of-business level strategic planning, negotiating strategies, account management strategies, and achievement of financial results. Responsible for hiring, coaching, skill development, performance appraisal and discipline of staff.
* Directly negotiates certain key managed care contracts and oversees staff's negotiations for other contracts in order to secure profitable arrangements. Oversees the implementation of new contracts and on-going profitability of all assigned managed care accounts. Identifies and executes opportunities to improve profitability and grow revenue with the assigned accounts. Responds to requests for proposals or contract amendment proposals.
* Works with staff to identify key decision makers in each account, analyze customer needs and competitive situation, and determine Apria Healthcare's strategy to maximize operating earnings. Develops Apria's relationship with each account and works to strengthen Apria's reputation and positioning. Designates internal team to manage managed care accounts. Coordinates all communications related to the account.
* Executes company initiatives, such as price improvement initiatives, program implementation, and new product rollouts
* Evaluates market trends and key customer needs. Provides feedback to corporate leadership to inform Apria's strategies, marketing approaches, and clinical programs.
* Develops annual business plans and executes in accordance with adopted plans.
* Completes reports on contract opportunities and progress of staff in achieving assigned objectives
* Maintains up-to-date market knowledge of all assigned geographies
* Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Required Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Education or experience equivalent to a four year college degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration or related health care degree is required.
* Advanced degree is a plus.
* At least twelve years related experience in Managed Care, contract negotiations or related health care field is required, with the last five years or more in senior level position.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver results and execute on business plans
* Financial acumen with an ability to understand financial models
* Strong negotiation skills
* Demonstrated account management skills with ability to access VP plus level contacts within the Payor community
* Proactive strategist with ability to anticipate market changes and trends
