Our client is the world's leading international tobacco company, with a diverse workforce of over 80,000 people that hail from every corner of the globe.
The business, although a multinational leader in the traditional tobacco industry, is at the forefront of innovation and technology in its latest product launch. As such, increasing demands have been placed on the legal function and, in turn, they are now looking to recruit a Trade Mark Attorney to work closely with their Trade Mark Manager.
This is a role that would see you working across a range of legal matters and exposure to new and interesting technologies and the legal processes that come with that.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following accountabilities:
- Advise on trade mark portfolio management
- Advise the business on its day-to-day trade mark, design and copyright queries
- Work closely with internal clients and outside counsel to review and clear new pack designs, innovations, main brands, sub-brands, product features, slogans and logos, which includes conducting online preliminary searches and reviewing and reporting full availability searches
- Devise regional and global filing programs
- Assist with the management and prosecution of our trade mark portfolio, by handling significant registry objections such as non-distinctiveness and relative ground objections
- Review watch notices and manage registry opposition and cancellation actions, with support from Counsel when necessary
- Assist with other contentious matters, such as infringements and take down notices
- Support the business in relation to other IP related projects such as license and assignment recordals, trade mark portfolio audits, copyright and domain name matters
- Providing IP compliance training to market lawyers and marketing teams.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
