Head of Legal - Financial Services - FCA - compliance - English trained in-house Lawyer - 7 years post-qual experience.

An opportunity has arisen for a marketing leading hospitality and leisure organisation to recruit a new Head of Legal - Financial Services. This is a new role which is helping with the set up of this new arm of the business so very exciting opportunity for you to be a real business partner, helping with the strategy etc.
You will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Group's strategic approach to all legal aspects of financial services across all business segments and markets, providing practical advice, delivering effective solutions and ensuring that all employees understand (and comply with) the legal framework in which the business operates and its obligations.

With an excellent academic record and experience training and/or working in a ranked law firm coupled with previous in-house experience and a strong understanding of FCA regulations and compliance you will be a strong leader looking for your next career challenge.

To succeed in this role you will be analytically astute, be able to handle situations and problems with innovation and creativity and be able to demonstrate an understanding of how one issue may be part of a much bigger system, identifying common themes across the multiple issues.
You will ideally have a strong understanding of financial services including point of sale credit, prepaid multicurrency cards, eGift cards, travel insurance, car insurance as well as digital marketing and CRM strategy.
Your experience will combine excellent technical legal knowledge with a keen commercial focus and practical judgement.
You will be adept in combining compliance and risk management requirements with delivery of an ambitious business transformation agenda and you will demonstrate financial awareness, controls cost and thinks in terms of profit, loss and added value.
You will have a strong focus on customer satisfaction and delivering high quality legal service to the business.
Naturally, you will have excellent communication skills, along with great attention to detail, resilience and an ability to work at pace in a transformational environment.

You will be responsible for (including):

* taking a lead day-to-day role in respect of all legal matters, including the roll out and on-going management of financial services products and projects across the Group.
* leading the Group's compliance programme in relation to financial services products including, in particular, regulations imposed by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA),
* drafting and negotiating contracts and other transactional documents required to enable the performance and completion of the Group's financial services projects.
* working closely with the wider Group compliance initiatives (eg data protection, anti-bribery) to ensure a consistent and compliant approach across the various compliance projects.
* supporting the Group's segment in-house lawyers, and efficiently and cost effectively manage the Group's relationships with relevant external lawyers, in relation to financial services; support the Group General Counsel in respect of costs savings measures generally.
