The University of Iowa Parking and Transportation Department is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as the Associate Director (AD). This full-time position will report to the Director, Parking and Transportation Services, a 24/7 auxiliary enterprise within the University.
The University of Iowa and its Hospitals and Clinics at Iowa City are home to over 33,000 students, 15,000 faculty and staff and are the destinations for over one million patient visits and an equal or greater number of visitors, patrons and fans each year. The University and the Hospital are served by a single 16,000 space University parking system managed by the Department of Parking and Transportation. More than 5,000 spaces are in ten parking structures. The rest are surface lots with more than half of the remaining spaces located peripherally and served by free transit service linking them with key campus destinations.
The AD will plan and direct operations of Parking Services, Field Services, Capital Project Management, Parking Facility Operations, and Special Event Management units within the Parking and Transportation Department. These units consist of approximately 60 full time staff and 200 part time staff; assist the Director with planning and coordinating department-wide operations, and with establishing performance standards for all other departmental units including CAMBUS, Fleet Services and Commuter Programs.
Required Qualifications:
•A Master's degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• 5-7 years of experience with upper level management and administration.
•Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment is required.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Professional writing samples may be requested during the interview process.
•Demonstrated ability to motivate others to high performance by exercising strong stewardship of University resources, setting expectations, measuring success through individual performance review and coaching, and driving organizational results.
•Demonstrated ability to create a culture of employee engagement and motivation.
•Experience managing customer service programs.
•Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to a wide spectrum of customers; ability to design, monitor and evaluate customer service programs, focusing on constant improvement in quality and service to faculty, students, staff and campus visitors.
Desired Qualifications and/or Experience:
•Certified Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP) certification.
•Experience in a Higher Education environment.
•Experience in a healthcare environment.
•Experience in a service providing industry
