OptumRx is transitioning the organization to have a much stronger product and service mindset in terms of how we develop our offerings and sell in the marketplace. The Vice President of OptumRx Strategic Product Management (Specialty Pharmacy) manages the BriovaRx specialty products; including, but not limited to, overall performance of the product, strategy development, and lifecycle management. To successfully lead product management across the BriovaRx portfolio, this leader will partner closely with BriovaRx business leaders, specialty service, marketing, finance, and sales. The VP of Strategic Product Management has a deep understanding of the business strategy and translates market trends and customer needs into a client and member focused Product Strategy that ensures that business growth and revenue goals are achieved.

The role is responsible for all Strategic Product Management activities of the BriovaRx product portfolio. This includes working closely with business leadership to develop a strategic vision for the product portfolio and effectively managing all portfolio assets to meet the organization's goals and market needs. The role reports to the SVP of Strategic Product Management for OptumRx

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the portfolio of solutions meets or exceeds revenue and market share goals
  • Synthesizes competitive analysis and market assessments to inform the product strategy, prioritize investments, and establish go - to - market strategies that capitalize on market trends, customer needs and competitive positioning
  • Clearly understands the competitive landscape - competitor strategies, positioning, strengths and weaknesses
  • Establishes a Strategic Roadmap for the portfolio, including New Product concepts, extensions of existing solutions, and M / A activities
  • Segments markets, identifies target customers and champions Market Intimacy to uncover market needs
  • Understands and documents macro / micro market trends and competitive threats to drive the Business capability's strategy
  • Constantly collects and analyzes performance data (e.g., market, financial, and operational) in order to identify new opportunities for the business
  • Engages key clients for strategic discussions on market trend impact, current issues, and new product concepts
  • Cross OptumRx product value proposition development
  • Coordination of Optum Innovation activities, including cross enterprise coordination (including technology and UHG) and working with the businesses to identify new areas of innovation
  • Support Sales for Key Client activities
  • Creation of a product culture across the enterprise including talent development, training, career pathing, and culture
Outputs

  • Product Strategies - Establishes a vision for the portfolio and crafts a path to the future (which markets to address, which capabilities to bring to market and prioritizes the investment). Aligns the product strategy with the business strategy
  • Product Investment model and business case for organic and M / A growth
  • Portfolio Scorecard - reviewed quarterly to gauge profitability of existing products
  • Portfolio Forecast - forecast volumes, market share, and revenue for portfolio
  • Development of a cross - functional Specialty Pharmacy product team and development of a cross - Optum product culture


Required Qualifications:

  • Four - year degree in business, healthcare or technology (or equivalent)
  • 7+ years of experience managing a diverse product portfolio and a deep understanding of product strategy, portfolio management and product development
  • Proven success in developing complex product strategies and plans
  • Cross - functional team development
  • Experience in product development process, project management, and complex projects and activities
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong demonstrated ability to lead business initiatives to a successful result
  • Team building and culture building experience
  • Business process experience is desirable
  • Experience in complex, matrix organizations; knows how to get things done both through formal channels and the informal network
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with cross - functional teams and consensus builder
  • Ability to effectively deal with levels of ambiguity - can effectively cope with change, can shift gears comfortably, can decide and act without having the total picture, comfortably handles risk and uncertainty
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective formal presentation and facilitation skills in a variety of settings

  • Strong analytical abilities, organization and project / process management skills

  • Specialty Pharmacy, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) and Sales / Client Management experience
  • Knowledge of healthcare
