IT Legal Counsel

My client is an innovative payments business, which is globally recognised for it's virtual payment systems. They now wish to hire a Legal Counsel to support the Head of Legal with the expansion of its business where you will advise the development team on their innovative and bespoke payment solutions.

The Role
This position is best suited for a mid-level lawyer (ideally 6yrs PQE) to join an existing Legal & Compliance team which consists of the General Counsel, two senior Legal Heads and Head of Compliance. You will focus on negotiating commercial contracts whilst providing general legal advice on a broad range of legal matters to the UK and overseas based management teams. An exciting part of the role will require you to advise on developing and delivering new products, services and operating structures to enable it to provide innovative new payment solutions to the B2B market. As part of your role you will provide regulatory advice on the obligations of the Company as an authorised electronic money institution and to oversee legal and regulatory issues associated with operating in new markets.


The Candidate
Being a small and rapidly growing business, the only certainty in this role is change. Change to meet market opportunities, change to address operational issues, change to meet regulatory demands. For that reason, candidates must very commercially minded with thorough corporate and commercial, exposure to financial services. Candidates must have strong commercial contract drafting skills, together with large project experience, payments experience is advantageous but not essential. Must be admitted to practise in the England & Wales with 6+ years PQE gained from a reputable law firm and in-house legal team. This legal team will expose you to a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment, which is experiencing a high-growth, yet offers a casual and relaxed working environment. An enthusiastic, can-do, hands-on attitude is essential for this role. In order to succeed you'll have to be capable to work closely with a highly entrepreneurial team, where you will need to be naturally pragmatic with good creative problem solving skills.
