Real Estate Finance/Fund Consultant - European Asset Management - OUR CLIENT are a market-leading, highly-capitalised and established firm that provides investment management services for a broad spectrum of institutional investors, including identifying, analysing, acquiring and managing real estate and maritime assets on behalf of its clients. The company develops, redevelops and operates these real estate assets, alongside assessing capital markets and controlling investment risk for the managed assets. The company are seeking to bring on a Consultant, to act as 6 months maternity cover (with a possibility of extension) to get directly involved in all aspects of financial reporting, analysis, accounting, internal controls and oversight of real estate and maritime assets.

 

The Role: Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Overseeing and assisting with management of various funds including Real Estate Funds.
  • Evaluating the accounting and reporting issues related to various deal structures and proposals.
  • Preparing management analysis including asset, fund and business level budgeting and reporting.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with all internal and external clients and consultants, including assisting and coordinating responses to client and consultant requests.
  • Calculating and maintaining performance data for individual assets and for the overall Funds (AIMR, IRRs).
  • Developing and maintaining a financial infrastructure that operates with the efficiency and flexibility to respond to the demands of a growth oriented business.
  • Overseeing the quarterly accounting and financial reporting process for all investment products, seeking to continually improve the level and content of reporting and communication.
  • Overseeing the financial due diligence for acquisitions by working with appropriate individuals within the Real Assets Group, as well as third parties, sellers, JV partners, legal counsel, etc.
  • Broadly interacting with independent external auditors, tax practitioners, deal and third party service providers.
  • Actively participating in and contributing to the determination and review of valuations.
  • Ensuring that local operator/partner accounting systems and records are properly controlled and periodically audited.
  • Reviewing and approving fund level performance fees and accruals.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of investment structures, debt documents, partnership agreements, and purchase and sale agreements.

 

The Person: The successful Asset Management Consultant MUST be a CPA or ACA (ICAEW) qualified with at least 10 years' post-qualification financial and accounting experience in the private equity or real estate industry with a proven track record of managing controllership, reporting and finance functions. The incumbent will have an extensive private equity, investment management or real estate accounting background. This role will also be a senior resource to support a team of five fund controllers through the quarterly reporting cycle and must be able to offer ad-hoc support to the Portfolio Managers, utilising and drawing the skills of the wider team as necessary. Additionally, the candidate will have experience in closed-ended commingled funds, limited partnerships, opportunity funds, and operating company investments. Finally, the successful candidate will have familiarity with various EU country issues impacting investments and fund level accounting and current knowledge on industry accounting and tax trends/issues.
