Position reports to the National Accounts SVP, GM of the West / East respectively and manages large, complex clients. This person will manage 8 to 10 clients based on membership size, growth potential and complexity of the client.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads enterprise wide relationships
  • Seeks to understand key elements of a client's business environment
  • Helps clients understand and solve their unique business challenges
  • Identifies enterprise wide opportunities
  • Utilizes consultative selling skills
  • Develops and leverages relationship within multiple touch points (HR, procurement, finance, business development, C-suite, etc.)
  • Establishes both personal, and National Accounts, credibility within UHG and externally with client leadership
  • Partners strategically with clients to identify growth, cross-sell and retention opportunities
  • Directs strategic, client specific initiatives which deliver "value add" services through the execution of client business plans
  • Translates ideas into deliverables
  • Establishes and maintains strong and appropriate level relationships with clients and consultants; ensures UHG management has client specific "executive/board" level contacts
  • Responsible for growing the membership and revenue on assigned accounts, and maintaining or increasing profit levels
  • Clearly identifies, maps and tracks decision makers/influencers and the decision making progress within the client organization
  • Demonstrates exceptional negotiation skills
  • Actively seeks and engages in community activities, looking for those that align with client's interest
  • Actively participates in specified National Accounts leadership meetings, conference calls, and case reviews
  • Provides data and reports to National Accounts leadership for pipeline reporting
  • Provides feedback to management on market trends as represented by our clients
  • Coordinates and influences superior client service delivery by developing and maintaining strong inter-company relationships
  • Removes barriers to ensure service excellence and delivery
  • Effectively manages escalated issues; helps remove internal/external obstacles to meet client expectations
  • Provides support and guidance to SCE for renewals and RFPs; assists in negotiating with underwriting ad UHG partners
  • Participates and supports external claim audits for assigned cases by attending on-site audit close out meeting, internal response and remediation preparation meetings and client auditor review meetings; assist with ongoing resolution
  • Manages the client teams (SCE, CM, etc.) on assigned accounts providing leadership, coaching, and oversight
  • Responsible for career development of SCEs on assigned accounts
  • Serves as an influencer in the MAP process, but does not directly manage personnel
  • Creates a team oriented work climate both within and across UHG
  • Collaborates and coordinates with Client Development to maximize market opportunities
  • Provides senior level support in the development and management of consultant relationships and participates in corresponding activities
  • Manages client receivables on assigned cases
  • Maintains a high level of healthcare industry knowledge
  • Understands and communicates goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UHC

  • Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in senior relationship executive / sales role
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience
