Group Financial Controller: £60k - £65k
The Creative Education Trust (CET) is a non-profit educational charity recognised by the Department for Education as one of the leading multi-academy chains. It supports a growing network of schools to improve standards and achieve academic success.
The CET schools network currently consists of seven secondary academies and six primary academies across the Midlands and East Norfolk. They are at the forefront nationally of improvement in academic standards, curricular innovation and staff development. CET plans to expand the number of academies in the network to around twenty over the next two years.
This role will be based in CET's head office and will report directly to the Finance Director. It will be a key post and central to effective communication between the head office team and the academies. You will be in touch with all of the Trust's academies on a regular basis to support the finance staff and liaise with Principals, including regular visits. You will be responsible for co-ordinating financial reporting, preparation of annual budgets, monthly management accounts as well as forecasts and statutory accounts. You will also support regional heads of finance and take responsibility for the management of the Trust's financial systems and processes for new Academies joining the Trust. You will assist the Finance Director in directing the financial management and planning of the Group and contribute to the strategic management of the Trust.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified accountant with proven experience within a similar role. Candidates with experience within the academy sector are encouraged to apply. Experience of running the financial accounting function for a decentralised group that has a number of branches and/or subsidiaries is an advantage. You will be a strong technical accountant with excellent people skills and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders.
