The Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association (EEMUA)

Are you interested in ensuring that industrial assets are operated safely and efficiently? Do you have a background that gives you insight into training, marketing, publishing or communication, yet an understanding of how companies operating potential hazardous installations need to function? Are you looking for an opportunity to deal with a wide range of critical industries, and use your hard won experience to help reduce the risk of serious incidents? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Founded in 1950, EEMUA is an established industry association for owners and operators of process plants, power stations and similar facilities – the users of engineering equipment and materials.  Members also include those involved in design, procurement, maintenance and other plant lifecycle activities.  The Association is involved in helping Members to identify, share and communicate good and best practices, and to influence the development, interpretation and practical application of technical regulations and standards. It deals with some of the world’s largest industrial companies, and its guidance is recognised as good practice by regulators and legislators across Europe, and further afield. The Association’s offices are located in central London.

Due to increasing demand in all aspects of the Association’s operations, EEMUA is looking for individuals able to provide guidance and support in certain areas.

Director Experience

We are looking to recruit an Independent Director to strengthen our Board, who shares our vision and can offer guidance in managing the Association through an exciting period of change. Management and business development experience are desirable. In addition we are looking for an enthusiastic Director who has the following skills, experience and attributes:-

  • Able to work effectively at a strategic level in an experienced team
  • Can help ensure the Association is well managed, accountable and meets legal requirements
  • Can provide the Association with experience and expertise in their field
  • Can act as a representative and champion for the Association

As part of our drive to strengthen and diversify our Board we have identified some areas that would be especially beneficial to EEMUA: -

  • Marketing, communications, PR
  • Technical training courses
  • Publishing, hardcopy and/or online, of reference material
  • Ability to bring a different perspective

Commitment

The role is voluntary, although reasonable expenses would be covered. The Independent Director position is for a four year period. Board meetings are held approximately every two months in central London. There are occasionally extraordinary teleconference meetings, and a few hours of work might be expected every month. The Association runs a two day biennial conference which directors are expected to attend; the next is in March 2017.

EEMUA has professional indemnity insurance for its directors.
