Brent’s innovative and ambitious plans for Civic Enterprise will create new, sustainable income streams and deliver improved services to residents. This role sees you right at the sharp end of this project, turning the theory into practice across two pioneer services – Building Control and Pest Control. While these already generate a respectable commercial return, there’s significant potential to shape services that are not only tradable at a much greater level than is currently the case, but also respected and sought out by residents and commercial partners.

Candidates need a good grasp of how the delivery of public services is evolving, which probably also means some recent direct experience of service management (whether within local government itself, or its supply-chain). Highly commercially aware, and with an engaging and positive management style, you need to demonstrate an exceptional ability to analyse complex business planning issues, as well as the skills to lead a team of committed professionals in a period of rapid and extensive change.

While the task shouldn’t be underestimated, nor should the rewards: success here will position you as a key service leader within the council, with an expertise that will be of significant value in the future, and opportunities to bring other tradable services from within the department into your portfolio.

This role is offered on an one year renewable contract.
