Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is a successful provider of mental health and learning disability services with ambitions to be the leading provider in the country. We provide vital services across Hertfordshire as well as for the communities of Norfolk and North Essex and have been chosen as the preferred provider of community health services for Luton. As a University Trust, we work in close partnership with the University of Hertfordshire providing our staff with excellent learning and development opportunities and strengthening our clinical research capabilities. We have recently been recognised for our achievements by receiving the Health Service Journal’s prestigious 2014 Board Leadership award.

The new Non-Executive Directors will help drive forward the Trust’s Strategy, and will work closely with the Chairman, Council of Governors and Trust Board. You will also provide essential challenge, guidance, advice and support to the Chief Executive and Executive Directors while reflecting a strong commitment to our values, but also the principles of the NHS. Your input will enable us to continue to deliver high standards of care to our patients and respond to the challenges and opportunities the NHS is facing.

The Trust has a requirement for two Non-Executive Directors. One will offer expertise in organisational development and human resources and the other will offer a broad blend of skills potentially including one or more of a background in partnership working gained in the public or private sector, supply chain with primary contracting experience or property and estates management experience.

Your Credentials

  • A proactive, inspirational and collaborative individual, able to command credibility at Board Level and to constructively challenge and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills for influencing change, managing complex situations and sustaining engagement and delivery
  • Abilityto maintain the balance between strategic thinking and executive actions, ensuring that the Trust fulfils its statutory and legislative responsibilities
  • Capable of developing the culture of our organisation, ensuring it remains governance focused and committed to excellent patient care
  • Strong decision making and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering impressive results and innovative solutions
  • Have anunderstanding of the managerial, financial, customer and performance issues facing the NHS with a strong solutions focus and a firm commitment to the quality and effectiveness of patient services
